Adult Learning Center (V.E.C.)
Baltinglass Adult Learning Centre provides a first step back into education/learning for adults who perhaps left school early or have been a long time away from it. This service is flexible, fun, free and learner centered. We help individuals to improve and update basic skills and knowledge in reading, writing, spelling, maths and computers. This tuition is available on a one-to-one basis or in small groups and runs at the student's own pace.
Our core programmes are Communications, Maths, Personal Development, Computers and Preparation for work. Confidentiality is at the centre of all that we offer. We also offer courses ranging from helping children with Maths homework, Gardening and Tiling to Financial Education, Child Development and Basic Beauty. We are a service of Co. Wicklow VEC and our courses are FETAC accredited. Baltinglass Adult Learning Centre works in partnership with FAS and local employers. We also provide learning opportunities for those who are unemployed. We also work with local FAS Community Employment Schemes and with Wicklow County Council.
Together with Baltinglass Credit Union, we have provided a Financial Education course for the local community. ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) tuition is also provided in the centre. All students can avail of free Co. Wicklow VEC Adult Education Guidance Service.
